There would be 300 student posts and there is no way to leave off at a point and scroll through new ones. To find something you commented on, you have to search through all the posts. I spent the first 2 weeks troubleshooting how to keep track of my posts and the responses other students left. | Yes | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 2 | C The rubric did not provide clear instructions to what was required in the group assignments. | 1 | 2 | 3 | 3 | - | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 | - | 3 | 2 | C Laptop computer | C Ask my instructors,Refer to instructions provided in the course | 2 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 2 | C I work full time. The assignments felt very vague and unclear. Lots of classmates were confused on what was needed to be done. The amount of work needed for this 2 credit class is more work than my 5 credit class. However, I was very disappointed at the fact that my entire group consisted of NP students, so we did not get the full beneficial experience of collaborating with and learning from different professionals. As a future primary care NP, I anticipate extensive collaboration with other professionals so I feel it would have been considerably useful to have had interactions with dental, social work, pharmacy, and/or PT students to be able to truly understand each other's roles. However, we did not get this interaction, and instead my group had to speculate what the roles of other professionals may or may not be. For this reason, I don't feel as though I took much away from this course, as I think the IPE competencies were straightforward enough to incorporate into other classes that we will be taking, such as the Models and Theories class. My group tried to make the best of the situation and did enjoy our weekly meetings with each other.

Particularly for the earlier assignments I found it was hard to divide work so everyone was contributing a meaningful contribution due to the amount of actual content that needed to be submitted. Additionally, although I don't believe this is something that can be quickly changed, the course was almost entirely NP students with perhaps one or two individuals in other disciplines. While the reading material was helpful, particularly in regards to thinking about patient needs, I found that practical interdisciplinary interactions were lacking. Again, I know this is something that can't change over night but overall I think the course was designed well.
2022-02 | HS687 | P DigEd FNP or AGNP | S 11 to 15 hours | W 10 to 19 hours | 1 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 4 | C I do not think I have been more disappointed in a course in the entirety of my academic career. I believe if the discussion posts are going to be worth so much and adversely impact a student's grade, then the lowest discussion post grade should be dropped. I did not get a satisfactory grade on just ONE discussion post. I got a 4/10 on my first discussion post. There are many personal reasons behind that 4/10. I strongly believe that the lowest discussion post grade should be dropped in order to allow students time to acclimate to the rigorous grading practices of the instructors and allow the students to have one "bad" week, as I think we can all understand that life happens. I believe that the "three different day" requirement needs to be examined and hopefully completely eliminated. If the student only has Monday or Tuesday to complete all their schoolwork, then that is the day the student can devote to looking through the discussion board. As long as the initial post and two peer responses are thoughtful, engaging, and contributing to the discussion, why would the dates of the posts matter in the slightest? I have worked hard throughout this program as well as in this particular course and due to my first discussion post grade, I do not think my overall grade in this course is going to reflect the amount of hard work I have put into this program or this course. I enrolled in the digital FNP program because I wanted the flexibility of being able to complete my work when I could. Oftentimes, between caring for my two young children, studying, and going to clinicals, I only have one or two days out of the seven day week to set aside for getting on my laptop and completing all my schoolwork. When it is mandated that we post on the discussion board three different days out of the week, I do not think the instructors are taking into consideration students who are single mothers or students trying to juggle both work and school. Once I got into my stride, I started writing all three of my discussion posts on the same day (one initial post and two peer response posts), but then I just had to scramble to find time to post my two peer response posts on two separate days. I also had to ensure that my initial post was completed by Tuesday night or my grade would be penalized. Since my discussion posts were already-prepared and previously written up, it only took a few spare moments to post on the various days but when I tell you that these "spare moments" were after getting up at 5:30am to get my two children ready, feed them breakfast, drop them off at daycare, go to clinical for 8-10 hours, pick them up from daycare, make them dinner, feed them dinner, bathe them, put them to bed, and then instead of being able to relax for a few moments before bedtime, I had to open up my laptop and post a discussion post I had written a few days ago, when I had more time to allocate to my schoolwork. This is supposed to be an asynchronous course but with requirements like "post on three different days," I think something about the beauty of an asynchronous course, and the student having complete autonomy when it comes to completing and submitting their schoolwork, is being lost. This coincides with all the required groupwork. Due to the amount of groupwork, my team had to conduct weekly meetings. It is impossible to get even half of the group together at the same time (or synchronized if you will) when you are all in different time zones and have very different work schedules and/or family life. No one, including myself, could believe the amount of work required in this course equated to a two-credit course. In summary, I think a lot needs to be revamped. | Yes | 4 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | - | 3 | 3 | 3 | - | 3 | - | 4 | 4 | C Laptop computer | 2 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 2 | C I do not think I have been more disappointed in a course in the entirety of my academic career. The time needed for assignments far exceeded the time I had left for my other courses. There was no diversity pool in participating programs. There were no dentists, social workers, teachers, lawyers, physicians and it was a waste of time. The assignments were extensive, having to reply to classmates for 3 days when we are in clinical or working full time doesn't help in an asynchronous program. To pay almost $3000 for this class was a waste of money and I was really disappointed. I would advise a 2 cr. course where APRNs can use a simulator, do online test prep or a week on campus to do hands on procedures. I need that. Every classmate I have spoken to whether Dig Ed or On Campus said this class needs to go. I am just glad it's over.

The amount of group work and projects was punishing, especially since it was so much work with so little impact on the grade (only 30%, probably 80% of the effort for the course). It seems most groups did not have issue with clarity of assignments but ours did. Instructions for each case study seemed to be spread out through the module, case study, rubric and assignment description. This made it easier for details to drop through the cracks and lack clarity. The repetitiveness of discussion posts and responding seemed excessive when combined with citing for each and adding in the same with other courses.

Student: 16I felt that some of the instructions and the way Canvas is set up with multiple module pages, assignment pages, and the rubric gave too many areas for different instructions for one assignment making it unclear.

Student: 17Use of coggle was so time consuming and less productive I likes other platforms such as Lucid chart or google slides. I think, removing coggle from the instructions or moving it to bottom will benefit the students.
Additional Comments
Student: 1I work full time. I was surprised when I found we had an assignment due on that first Friday. I would have appreciated that the first discussion assignment be announced at the beginning of the module, as I work on most of my homework and lessons on the weekend.
Student: 2I wish the expectations were more clear, along with examples given. The assignments felt very vague and unclear. Lots of classmates were confused on what was needed to be done. The amount of work needed for this 2 credit class is more work than my 5 credit class. Rubric needs to be redone along with class expectations.
Student: 3The content for this course and how the course was managed and presented was overall one of the worst learning experiences I've ever had. This course needs to seriously be reevaluated.
Student: 6I was very much looking forward to my interprofessional teamwork course and it was one of the things in the curriculum that drew me to the University of Michigan's NP program (among many others).
Student: 7While I found the resources of this course to be informative I found that there were perhaps a few too many individuals in each group.
Student: 8I do not think I have been more disappointed in a course in the entirety of my academic career.
Student: 10Please change the format. Its not too late!

Student: 13This course was horrible.

Student: 15There was no warning that the course would be compressed into 7 weeks, which was extremely difficult to balance while working full time. The amount of group work and projects was punishing, especially since it was so much work with so little impact on the grade (only 30%, probably 80% of the effort for the course). Arranging times to meet with such large groups of busy working professionals was very challenging.
Student: 16Although I appreciate the length of the course and the ability to be able to focus on my other course for the rest of the semester, some more thought needs to be put into instruction.
Student: 17Clear expectations and timely feedback

Student: 1I found the discussion portion of Canvas confusing and difficult to follow. There would be 300 student posts and there is no way to leave off at a point and scroll through new ones. To find something you commented on, you have to search through all the posts. I spent the first 2 weeks troubleshooting how to keep track of my posts and the responses other students left.
Student: 2The class is confusing, rubric is very vague and there are no clear expectations. Even when reaching out to other classmates they are unclear on the assignments.
Student: 4Professors were available for questions/concerns very easily.

Student: 10This class is so time consuming with a small amount of benefit. The discussion, reply, reply, discussion format is terrible. I learned how to do APA citation by memory from this class. While the information and readings were actually good it is over shadowed by the format. If I was not paying so much money for this course I may feel different but I do not feel I learned enough for it to be worth my time or my money.

Student: 13Instructions and rubric were unclear and the amount of time spent on a 2 credit course outweighed my 7 credit course which is unacceptable.
Student: 17I thing graders were harsh compared to other classes. DB participation for 3 days or post should spread out for 3 days is kind of hard. I use my phone all the time to read posts but when it comes to posting I use computer. So, I could save my time and be more efficient if I am writing alll 3 posts at the same time. As I am busy doing several different things throughout the day and throughout the week.
Student: 19The discussion posts were sometimes due on that tuesday of the module. It would be helpful if that due date was in the calendar and then it had a separate due date for the student responses. Sometimes I was unable to get to the weekly modules until the middle of the week and missed when the original discussion post was due.
