This is the course that makes me feel like I am drowning in content every single week. The discussion board assignments (worth 2-4 points) have so many components it is basically doing the work of writing a paper every single week (even on the weeks where a formal assignment is due) and it is in addition to the course readings and module content. I think this course needs to be re-evaluated for workload and either decrease the workload or increase the credit hours. | |||||

I do however think this class has an exceptional amount of work involved. It is only a 2 credit hour class and there has been more assignments in this one class than any other class I have taken in this program. There are MULTIPLE group assignments which are not difficult but keep in mind that most of the students in this program are working full time with families and in different time zones. It is not easy to coordinate that many meetings throughout the semester with our groups for the amount of group assignments we have. Keeping in mind we all mostly work full time and have families, the amount of assignments should be decreased and certainly not having multiple assignments due in the same week. We also have other classes we need to focus on and not spend all of our time (which is already stretched thin) working on this one class. In addition there was an article we had to write a discussion on (Marmot) that was too politically opinionated. It would be better for our articles that are attached to an assignment to be neutral with political information or not political at all. | |||||

Additionally, the turnaround time for assignments for this course are unsatisfactory as we are currently awaiting grades for an assignment that was submitted 4 weeks ago. I have spent more time on readings, discussion posts, and assignments for this one course than my other 2 courses. As a student, I would greatly appreciate receiving grades/feedback on previous assignments before I have to submit more assignments. | |||||

It is even more overwhelming with only 2 graded assignments out 7 that have been submitted. The class was not open prior to the start of the call like other classes. Usually I take the weekend before class starts to make a calendar to plan out my semester and without the class being open that wasn't possible. With working a full time job planning my time is important. There was a paper due the first week which we were given an extension on. There is also a lot of group work in the class and multiple different groups. This can be tricky with ranging schedules for class mates. I know from my groups that multiple students feel overwhelmed by the amount of work and lack of timely assignment feedback. I am in my final year of the program and this semester as a hole has been my worse experience. The instructor is quick to respond to questions and shares the information with the class. | |||

We are halfway through the semester and only 2 out of 7 assignments are graded. How are we supposed to know how we're doing if nothing is graded? An assignment due a full month ago on 9/17 still isn't graded. The professor is also not fantastic at responding to concerns or ensuring that assignments are clear. Additionally, discussion boards don't technically have a due date and are a disproportionate amount of work for the amount of points they are worth. This is only meant to be a 2 credit class and the amount of assignments and the amount of work each assignment takes is MUCH more appropriate for a 3 credit course at least. It is absolutely ridiculous that we are required to do this many assignments that are this extensive with very little guidance from the professor and difficulty getting ahold of the professor with questions or concerns. | |||||
