Most videos included in the course are not the professors (videos from YouTube), and the videos that are created by the professor are only a few minutes long. Maybe we could turn in the study guides to show that we understand the material and we could earn points that way? The concept maps were not very effective in helping me to learn the material. They were confusing at times. There were some orders of the concept maps that I feel could have been debated. For example, some events happen at the same time in an anaphylactic reaction but the computer wanted me to place them in a specific order that it wanted...not even the book or knowing the material could help me with this guessing game. The videos the instructors provide are essential just them rereading what was already written on the Canvas page, which are already super confusing! I feel like I have to spend so much extra time because instead of being taught, we are being told to teach outselves everything. I would much prefer a lecture style for this course as that is how I learn. I also think it would be beneficial if we could do the quizzes in groups, so we can learn from one another and share thoughts. Those quizzes are pretty hard considering this class is self taught, and I think it would help us learn if we could talk to each other and teach each other. I also think the concept maps are a big waste of time! They don't really help us learn anything and instead are a "try to find out what I am thinking" type of assignment. These should definitely be group work since we are teaching ourselves everything. I especially don't like how you can get the right answer but if it's in the wrong blank, you get it wrong. This should be fixed. I think something more interactive would be beneficial, even if it were just a concise review lecture at the end of the week in preparation for the quiz. I do not feel much sense of community, but find this natural for a pathophys class with many, many students. Most videos included in the course are not the professors (videos from YouTube), and the videos that are created by the professor are only a few minutes long. I don't mind some of the YouTube videos as they are helpful but more actual instruction by the professor would be nice.

Student: 9For Nurs 502, I'd replace the concept maps with another learning activity. Maybe we could turn in the study guides to show that we understand the material and we could earn points that way? The concept maps were not very effective in helping me to learn the material. They were confusing at times. There were some orders of the concept maps that I feel could have been debated. For example, some events happen at the same time in an anaphylactic reaction but the computer wanted me to place them in a specific order that it wanted...not even the book or knowing the material could help me with this guessing game. Not all of the maps were bad but some were very tedious.

Student: 18This class has been extremely difficulty because it seems to be completely teach yourself. The videos the instructors provide are essential just them rereading what was already written on the Canvas page, which are already super confusing! I feel like I have to spend so much extra time because instead of being taught, we are being told to teach outselves everything. I would much prefer a lecture style for this course as that is how I learn. I also think it would be beneficial if we could do the quizzes in groups, so we can learn from one another and share thoughts. Those quizzes are pretty hard considering this class is self taught, and I think it would help us learn if we could talk to each other and teach each other. I also think the concept maps are a big waste of time! They don't really help us learn anything and instead are a "try to find out what I am thinking" type of assignment. These should definitely be group work since we are teaching ourselves everything. I especially don't like how you can get the right answer but if it's in the wrong blank, you get it wrong. This should be fixed. Overall, I think this class could be improved by doing lecture style notes (l1-3 hours long just teaching) and making the assignments group work, so we can help teach each other all of the challenging concepts.

There have not been any other built-in opportunities to meet my classmates, though I do believe this program is what you make of it, and I have reached out to other students independently. I do feel comfortable writing in the discussion boards or emailing faculty though.
