I did the digital LAI program to be more flexible with my work schedule. This cause many extra stress. There is group activities during these meetings however, the directions where not clear so we tried to follow the link to the direction in the meeting. The link did not work . When asking the professor was made to be stupid that it was in module 0. There were many students lost in these activities not just myself and my group. When I asked about the link to the directions I was told it was in another module so they weren't concerned. I think it is unreasonable to require live sessions every other week during working hours, as most of us continue to work during this program and cannot be off every other thursday at 1 pm. I like the program evaluation assignments but sometimes have trouble viewing track changes. I think it would be easier if comments could be made in canvas. | No | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | C It is challenging to work ahead in this class when we are required to submit previous track changes with the future progress reports. In previous classes, such as biostatistics, lectures were recorded and could be watched at a later date. We would still get full credit as long as we watched the video by the end of the week. This is a much better way to do this. I don't believe it is fair to require additional make up assignments if we are unable to attend the live session. As long as we watch the live session that week, I believe we should receive full participation credit. If this is not an option, you need to state the dates and times of the live sessions in the class description when we are registering for the class, not the week before classes start, as many nurses have already made their schedules and cannot switch off every other Thursday.

2022-10 | HS 612 | P DigEd LAI | S 6 to 10 hours | W 20 to 29 hours | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | C The one thing I do not agree with in this course is that there are biweekly mandatory meetings worth 5 pts. These meetings usually happen during the week in the middle of the day, and if we can't attend the live meeting then we have to do an extra assignment for credit. This is an online class, and with students all over the US, and the possibility of most students working shift work, I do not agree with being graded to attend session biweekly or having an extra assignment as punishment for not attending the meeting. If I wanted to attend meetings worth class points, I would have signed up for face to face classes. This is the only issue I have with this class. I do appreciate that the instructor does give time to do an extra assignment, but I feel like it is unfair. | No | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | C Desktop computer | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3

It is a little disorganized and lacks clear directions or examples of assignments between having two pathways (health program and HIT applications). Being an online Master's degree program means your students have work, MANY of them full time day shift workers. Making a mandatory class in the middle of the work day is unrealistic and stressful for us. We were never given clear instruction if we will be getting credit for watching a recorded session. Not only that, but the zoom sessions are very unorganized, they have: -forgotten to record sessions for those who could not join live -forgotten to put us into breakout rooms (which resulted in us having to group text each other about what we were supposed to be discussing) -do not give us clear direction on what we are supposed to be discussing in these break out groups -have said they would pop into our breakout rooms to check on our progress but have yet to do that -are extremely condescending to people who ask questions in these sessions. We are all professionals and they are supposed to be guiding us through this subject matter that we do not know, not talking down to us for having questions on something they are an expert at In addition, throughout the instructions for completing assignments it specifically talks about using the track feature in microsoft word documents then either accepting or rejecting the feedback and then resubmitted. In the HIT pathway, Dr. Jiang does not use that word feature, only gives feedback through the grades tab in Canvas. The first time I was trying to figure out how to find the Word document to track changes I spent a lot of time thinking I was missing something. It needs to be removed from the instructions or give the alternate example of where these changes (or in my case, not changes just feedback on some things) could be found. This class is the poorest structured class in this program. I would never recommend these professors or this class to a colleague. It is so unfortunate and very disheartening that this class that has so much potential with a fantastic subject matter has caused the level of frustration I am feeling. | No | 4 | 4 | 2 | 3 | - | 4 | - | 2 | 2 | - | - | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | C Please see previous comment about the experience in this course. | 3 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | C Desktop computer | C Ask a friend,Refer to instructions provided in the course,Figure it out on my own | 2 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3

One of the faculty is pretty good (the HIT one) and the other one is not as responsive or easy to figure out (the health program one). Also, having two tracks in the class is extremely confusing. I've talked to other members of the class, and they agree. We have to complete all the work for both tracks even though we're only doing assignments for one, and the information gets mixed up in my head. Student: 4I think the canvas program can provide barriers to communication, such as not being able to find a link to submit an assignment and not having guidance from instructors about whether to email them or if there is a canvas link elsewhere.

These would be great learning opportunities but as this is an online course in an online program, it is an unrealistic expectation that we should be required to attend all of these sessions (no recordings are offered). No effort by the professors has been made to adjust the time or alternate days/times to be more accommodating for an online course.
Student: 16Would be helpful for more timely feedback, especially when assignments build on each other.
Student: 18Please see previous comment about the experience in this course.
Student: 21There are two faculty in this course and it depends on which track you chose. I don't understand why we have to do both tracks.
Technology Comments
Student: 4We don't use a lot of the tools mentioned. I'm fine with that. It would be nice if we could commit to google and zoom. My email with med.umich wants to default to teams (Microsoft) and has created issues with communication and distribution of information. Using so many different platforms has been challenging with the different logins and so on.
Student: 16I could not access the last zoom meeting, There was no mechanism for troubleshooting at the time and despite multiple efforts to problem-solve at the time, I could not access the session. It would be nice to have someone appointed as a monitor for any issues.
Technology Enhancement Comments
Student: 1I would love to have an "about me" section somehow connected to our Umich/Canvas profile. I think the introduction discussion board we do for every single course is redundant and could be streamlined.
Student: 4Adopt one platform for technology, like google preferably. I can only access my outlook email now through the bing browser and it's terrible. I strongly prefer chrome and google apps.
Student: 6Remove any links that don't work.
Student: 8Use canvas for comments instead of track changes
Student: 9Create professional video recordings for presentations.
Student: 12Have a high level few of tasks done and not done across courses. Currently I keep a running tab in OneNote. It would be great if Canvas had this feature, ideally it would populate automatically based on each reading, discussion, assignment - like a simple checklist of the module content.
Student: 16Participate in more computer simulation sessions.
Student: 17Web based simulation
Student: 19The ability to download assignments back from Canvas in the original Word doc format rather than a pdf to be able to utilize the comment writeups from the instructors
Student: 21Canvas should allow you to mark off a page when you are done with it, so you don't have to go back through and figure out where you left off.
Additional Comments
Student: 2While I appreciate the live sessions, and the instructors have offered an option for those that cannot attend, I think that they could be better organized and prepared so we get the most value out of that hour for everyone (instructors and students).
Student: 6My least favorite class I have taken. No clear direction
Student: 8For an online program targeted at working professionals, I do not appreciate the required live sessions every other week during working hours.
Student: 10It can be challenging to be completely engaged in the online sessions as I am in the middle of my work day during them.
Student: 16I enjoy the content and feel I am being exposed to a lot of useful information that really makes me think! I do appreciate the potential to improve my position and my program.
Student: 19The group activities are much too frequent for a program intended for working adults - weekly group meetings among 4 people with different work schedules and home lives when everything is online and no class time where we are in the same place at the same time is just too much. The weekly time spent on the course is nearly that of my other 2 courses combines, and less credits
Student: 20The biweekly live sessions are too much. We are working adults, and many of us cannot get off work every other week to attend a session. We also have other classes that require live sessions. There is a live session every week in October between both of my classes. This is excessive. There is also an extra assignment to complete when we cannot make a session live...even if we watch the replay. This is too much.
Student: 21Please split it up. It's extremely confusing to have to be learning both tracks but only submitting assignments on one.
Engagement Comments
Student: 4Sometimes the class assignments are difficult to accomplish. It would be nice to have examples from EBP or previous assignments. They don't have to be perfect, but examples keep people on task and provide guidance for what exactly the instructors are looking for, I have done literature reviews and haven't been able to find examples to guide me in the assignments.
Student: 5There seems to be some confusion when it comes to Zoom sessions, as these are scheduled in the middle of the workday when many students are at work (which is why we enrolled in a digital program). This, along with the professors having some difficulty with Zoom functionality, really limits what students are able to get out of the course.
Student: 6Class has mandatory class meetings! Grading for some is taking long and all the assignments are connected so you really can't start the next assignment till the next one is graded. This has not happened for me.
Student: 8The required live sessions for this class have not been overly helpful and are unorganized. I think it is unreasonable to require live sessions every other week during working hours, as most of us continue to work during this program and cannot be off every other thursday at 1 pm. I like the program evaluation assignments but sometimes have trouble viewing track changes. I think it would be easier if comments could be made in canvas.
Student: 11The one thing I do not agree with in this course is that there are biweekly mandatory meetings worth 5 pts.
Student: 16Technical difficulties were barriers at first to class discussion. Also, difficult to have to choose between meetings, as they competed with N 509. These are the only two classes on my plan which is pre-determined for me, so it was frustrating that the SON could not figure out a complimentary instead of competing schedule.
Student: 18This class has been the worst experience in the LAI program this far.
Student: 21The class requires biweekly zoom with mandatory attendance. Most of us work, and I do not feel that it is fair to have mandatory zooms with no way to make up the missed points for a digital education program. Also the zoom calls that I mentioned have been kind of weird.
