The professor and TAs are available to answer any and all questions during office hours or via email. I do not feel going to other classmates for clarification or help is an worthwhile option, as there is not a sense of collaboration in this class for me, especially being exclusively online. |

This is one of the best courses I have ever taken. The professor presents the material in an interactive way and is very welcoming. He is enthusiastic about learning and that in turn helps the students to tackle the content. |

I think Matt and TAs are all very responsive and answer questions. It would be helpful to be able to discuss questions with other classmates from time to time. They are helping set up study groups, which I don't find helpful. |

It would be helpful if the slides for downloading matched the slides in the lecture. The class slides veer off from the note slides sometimes and it's distracting. I think I am getting used to Matt's style. He tells you many times to pay attention, and I'm an attentive person, but I find myself making more attention errors than comprehension errors. There are a lot of thoughtful cues to not overlook certain things and then some missing cues that feel like gotchas where we typically get muddy points like ordinal age variable and the analyzing control chart. |

It would be nice if there was a way during the lockdown exam to access electronic notes instead of having to print out all the slides and labs on paper for open note exams. |

I think Matt really tries hard to help us learn and think about how we'll interpret and apply statistics in our careers. I think there are some missing cues here and there, but I really appreciate how much he seems to want to help us to learn. |

I enjoy this class and love the option of taking it in 3 options: online live or in-person, and also asynchronous. I come to class in-person when I have time, to enjoy the traditional classroom teaching, while also have the choice to take it online, and review with recorded videos. I also love the TAs’ being present to help. Overall, this class surpass my expectations and hope I can really learn a great deal in statistics. I have conducted a research myself with the help of a statistician, now wish I had taken this class before I did any studies. |

Matt made it very clear at the start of the semester who to ask what questions to and that was very helpful. All of their contact information was given and time to expect a reply was also provided. He creates a very welcoming environment. |

Matt is the best professor by far I have this semester in terms of laying out class expectations, due dates, responsiveness to emails and questions, instructions for assignments, and lecturing on course content in a way I understand. He creates a welcoming environment to all and makes the most out of his class time in a way that still keeps students engaged. My only critique is that I wish he would have put the option out for study groups earlier in the semester. |

We didn't have our first lecture during the first week of class and with it being online there wasn't any student introductions. I got to know other class members through a fall 2021 cohort FB page and we formed our own study group. For those that may not have had that opportunity, the instructor did facilitate the forming of study groups the week before mid-term. I would recommend doing that sooner. |

Faculty and TAs were very accessible via email and responded timely. I really wish they had evening office hours for those of us that work full time weekdays. I was not able to attend any office hours as a result and I would have really liked to have done that on more than one occasion. I understand they have lives too, but there were three TAs that could have rotated an evening office hour every week. |

For this course specifically it would have been nice to have an hour lecture/Zoom, within the first few weeks, dedicated just to Stata as an intro to navigating, available settings, the kind of files it uses, etc. Faculty did an ok job of incorporating this into lecture but it would have been helpful to have some time dedicated just to Stata. |

As hard (and frustrating at times) as the course is, I am really enjoying and getting a lot out of it. The faculty is very engaging with the material and presents scenarios that have meaning to the types of students he is teaching. It is a very fast-paced course and very time-intensive compared to my other courses. Some weeks I would spend 11-15 hours on the material, other weeks it would jump up easily to 20. Working full time and taking two other courses in addition to this one is a lot. I would have liked to have an opportunity to take this course by itself before the other courses in the program and would have jumped at an opportunity to take it the summer before the program actually started. |

Faculty Presence Comments
Student: 10It would be helpful if the slides for downloading matched the slides in the lecture.
Student: 13Since we are doing zoom meeting there are a lot of questions that online students ask and the advisors are answering. It would be helpful to have those questions and answers available with the uploaded zoom video.
Student: 15The instructions for the labs are very helpful as well as the individual feedback from the TAs on our labs. Matt does a great job reviewing key points from the last lecture before new content.
Student: 16Faculty and TAs were very accessible via email and responded timely. I really wish they had evening office hours for those of us that work full time weekdays. I was not able to attend any office hours as a result and I would have really liked to have done that on more than one occasion. I understand they have lives too, but there were three TAs that could have rotated an evening office hour every week.

Technology Enhancement Comments
Student: 1Have more examples posted to the canvas page instead of having to page through all the notes to find them maybe?
Student: 7This course does a much better job of placing the files in one easily found location for access at any time.
Student: 9Allow for readings like pdfs and downloadables to be easier accessed via cell phone app
Student: 10It would be nice if there was a way during the lockdown exam to access electronic notes instead of having to print out all the slides and labs on paper for open note exams.
Student: 11Interactive friendly
Student: 13Again the zoom meeting should also provided the Q and A during the live meeting.
Student: 14Personally, I would like more equipment for myself so I could watch a video lecture on one screen and take notes on another instead of doing a split-screen which gets too small or too muddled with content
Student: 15Make the supplemental videos a little easier to find
Student: 16For this course specifically it would have been nice to have an hour lecture/Zoom, within the first few weeks, dedicated just to Stata as an intro to navigating, available settings, the kind of files it uses, etc. Faculty did an ok job of incorporating this into lecture but it would have been helpful to have some time dedicated just to Stata.

Additional Comments
Student: 5This is one of the best courses I have ever taken. The professor presents the material in an interactive way and is very welcoming. He is enthusiastic about learning and that in turn helps the students to tackle the content.
Student: 10I think Matt really tries hard to help us learn and think about how we'll interpret and apply statistics in our careers. I think there are some missing cues here and there, but I really appreciate how much he seems to want to help us to learn.
Student: 11I enjoy this class and love the option of taking it in 3 options: online live or in-person, and also asynchronous.
Student: 15Matt is the best professor by far I have this semester in terms of laying out class expectations, due dates, responsiveness to emails and questions, instructions for assignments, and lecturing on course content in a way I understand. He creates a welcoming environment to all and makes the most out of his class time in a way that still keeps students engaged. My only critique is that I wish he would have put the option out for study groups earlier in the semester.
Student: 16As hard (and frustrating at times) as the course is, I am really enjoying and getting a lot out of it.
Student: 17Dr. Davis is an excellent professor.

Engagement Comments
Student: 3The professor and TAs are available to answer any and all questions during office hours or via email. I do not feel going to other classmates for clarification or help is an worthwhile option, as there is not a sense of collaboration in this class for me, especially being exclusively online.
Student: 9office hours are helpful but not always available for my schedule
Student: 10I think Matt and TAs are all very responsive and answer questions. It would be helpful to be able to discuss questions with other classmates from time to time. They are helping set up study groups, which I don't find helpful.
Student: 11The classes is fun and interesting
Student: 13I understand this is a graduate course but sometimes the information that is presented is jumbled and the line of thought is off course.
Student: 14My LAI cohort also has a private social page where we get together to discuss class questions which is helpful as well
Student: 15Matt made it very clear at the start of the semester who to ask what questions to and that was very helpful. All of their contact information was given and time to expect a reply was also provided. He creates a very welcoming environment.
Student: 16We didn't have our first lecture during the first week of class and with it being online there wasn't any student introductions. I got to know other class members through a fall 2021 cohort FB page and we formed our own study group. For those that may not have had that opportunity, the instructor did facilitate the forming of study groups the week before mid-term. I would recommend doing that sooner.
Student: 18Microsoft Excel should be a prerequisite to this course. Many students do not have experience using this program which is needed for HS700.
Student: 26There is no real discussion. The class is primarily lecture. There should be an N/A response option.
